This page is intended for members of the Western PA YMCA Swim League to discuss the pros, cons, and issues related to a change to scoring in our dual meets.
Scoring is set forth in section K of the league rules. Sections 1 and 2 are as follows:
1. Each age group will be scored separately using 5-3-1 and 7-0. The age group with the highest point total at the end of the dual meet will be the winner.
2. When compiling the meet results, each age group win accounts for 2 points for that team. The meet results are then reported as divisions won or lost with a combined score totaling 20 points. In the case of a tie in an age group each team will receive 1 point.
The question for the league is whether dual meets should be scored in their entirety rather than by age group. And, if so, what scoring method should be used.
Coaches (and other interested parties) are encouraged to post their thoughts and opinions in the comment section. (Please be advised that comments will be monitored and inappropriate comments will be deleted)
